New York's Angel- The Flat Iron Building

The Flatiron Building

The Flatiron Building, originally the Fuller Building is on 175th Street in Manhattan. It was the tallest skyscraper in 1902 (so I guess I have a thing for reaallyy tall buildings). As you may have noticed, 'Flatiron' is quite a curious name so to unveil that mystery, it earned this name for itself because of its resemblance to a clothes hanger. As you can see from that incredible oil painting I found, The Flatiron Building is triangular and on the corner of the street.

In a funny story, the shape of the building provides a cross breeze in such a way that if a woman wearing a skirt or dress crosses it, naturally it will just blow with the wind, revealing certain things that shouldn't be seen :p This gave birth to the phrase "23 Skidoo" because policemen had to be stationed around that corner in order to remove the men waiting around to get a glimpse at the skirts being blown.

The Flatiron Building is also popular as it is shown during the scene transitions of television shows such as (my personal favorite) Friends and also because it was depicted as the office of J. Jonah Jameson and Peter Parker in the Spiderman movies, yes none other than the Daily Bugle Headquarters. There ware also a few scenes in White Collar where Neal Caffrey has covert meetings with Peter Burke and Mozzie.

In a funny personal story, I could say that I nearly banged my head into the traffic lights (slightly visible in the background) trying to click the perfect picture of the Flatiron :p
I was actually standing on a moving double deck tour bus (I didnt realise we werent supposed to stand or that it could be dangerous) :p

New York's Angel- The Chrysler

NEW YORK CITY!
The City that Never Sleeps.
The Big Apple.

Needless to say that I am obsessed with that place!

During my vacation this June, I got to experience this unique air first hand.

New York has inspired a lot of novels, tv series, movies, poets and ART.
So I will share with you some of the incredible art inspired by the New York City's famous sky scrapers.

THE CHRYSLER BUILDING

This painting was seen on the New York based show White Collar supposedly made by Neal Caffrey, the charming and talented art thief, who helps the FBI solve cases involving theft of priceless artifacts.

The Chrysler Building is located on 42nd and Lex. It was the tallest skyscraper before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931.

This building is also seen in a lot of backgrounds in movies.. like my personal favorite scene in The Avengers, when Thor climbs onto the Chrysler and conjures up a storm with his Hammer. The building is also present in the Fantastic Four.

Angel Away

It has been a year of goodbyes and farewells for this sad little Angel....
And she could think of no way better than to celebrate/mourn by experimenting and exploring her boundaries through art..
I found this little masterpiece on Google and it is known as 'Farewell my Friend'. It is on a website called Deviant Art.
The drawings on that site are truly exceptional and I am trying to replicate quite a few of those.

The Leather Clad Angel

This is the Leather Clad Angel!

Don't ever be fooled by that innocent smile because there are Devil Horns hidden beneath those wild curls.

Now I realised why I consider and call this girl an Angel.
Angels fly.
They travel.
They see the world and everything beyond.
This Angel has a particular liking for buildings and art.
So I suppose she finally figured out a theme. What she is going to make of this blog. Her favourite buildings. Her action packed, live-out-of-a-suitcase vacation and the most beautiful places in the world- the ones she has flit through and the ones remaining

Park Angel- Behind the lens

The monsoons are here and I can be a bit of an exercise freak at times so I dragged my brother and my cousin to a park early morning :p
These are some of the pictures I clicked that I quite like. :)

Vatsie Angel

So..umm..yeah.. To the 0 readers that I have, I changed the name of the blog.
Leather Clad Angel- that is referred to me.. I know' its lame but it is still better than Angelus Ignis or Ira Angeli, right?

Anyway.. now I'm just trying to figure out how to attach a picture of mine where I'm wearing my favourite leather jacket :p

I really do enjoy putting up this random stuff on my blog :p

I am now putting up a drawing by Peyton Sawyer..her Dark Angel.. I really love that one and I do hope to perfectly replicate it someday.

I really do love her shoes in this.. she has SPIKED shoes!! :D
I bought some too, recently :p

A.R.T. H.E.A.R.T.

So I've decided to change the name of my blog... not that anyone reads it but I can't go all Jenna Hamilton and post my entire life here, right?

Anyway, I'm not the type to be heartbroken or depressed or suicidal or.. well.. maybe homicidal :p (just kidding).

I need to write decent stuff cuz like my teacher is gonna grade me on this and I really want a good grade.. though not by sucking up to her..

I like putting up lots of artwork. This drawing is by Peyton Sawyer. I seriously love her work! I love copying it too..

I'm probably going to maintain this blog quite a bit so I guess I'll be writing loads of random stuff till I get a decent idea of what I should be writing :p

An Introduction to '?'

                                                                          ''?"

A question mark quite clearly defines everything. The symbol is used as my heading simply because I spent an hour trying to decide what the name of the blog should be and what exactly should I write. A question mark would make it quite clear that I am still conflicted and now that I am adequately annoyed, I've decided to just wing it and do something incredibly random.

Also, since it is mandatory for me to make a blog as my Multimedia holiday homework, I feel like Jenna Hamilton, posting my entire life story out on the net for everyone to read. That is pretty strange since I'm not exactly writing anything personal :p nor do I intend to (I think).
